Ready, steady, go!
Look at these happy looking kids! Don’t they look game for adventure? If they are having doubts as to our sanity or our ability to keep them fed, educated and healthy this year, they are doing a good job of hiding it.
Crazy to think, when I was Miles’s age I hadn’t even been on a plane yet. My first trip came at age ten when my mother, sister and I went to Ireland with my grandmother who wished to see the “old country” once more before she died. The things I remember- the way the fields made the country look like one big green crazy quilt, my suburban girl amazement at the big bucket of fresh, warm milk that came into the farm kitchen each morning- makes me wonder what memories my kids will hold of the crazy year ahead.
Miles said to us the other day, “This feels like a dream, we’ve been planning for so long and now it’s here. I think we’re going to wake up when we’re in Barcelona and then it will be normal life for us to be traveling.” Time to put that theory to the test, it’s go time!
